UCR File Upload Utility

Who should use UcrFileUtility:
Law enforcement agencies should only use UcrFileUtility if they have been instructed to do so by the vendor of their software used to create UCR Submission files for uploading to the Pennsylvania Uniform Crime Reporting web-based system.

UcrFileUtility is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. The Pennsylvania State Police disclaims all warranties, either express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. In no event shall Pennsylvania State Police or its suppliers be liable for any damages whatsoever including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, loss of business profits or special damages, even if the Pennsylvania State Police or its suppliers have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for consequential or incidental damages so the foregoing limitation may not apply.

What UcrFileUtility does:
UcrFileUtility is a 32-bit Windows application that removes the last character from the end of a file. The application replaces the original file with the modified version.

What UcrFileUtility does not do:
UcrFileUtility does not make backups of the original file.
UcrFileUtility does not upload the file to the Pennsylvania Uniform Crime Reporting web-based system.

Minimum installation requirements for UcrFileUtility:
1) 5.2 MB disk space to install. Maximum of 2.7 MB permanent disk space.
2) Windows 95, 98 or NT 4.0.

How to install UcrFileUtility:
1) Winzip is required for installation. Download and install.
2) Click --> Download UCR File Utility (3 Meg) and save to C:\temp. When the download completes, close the dialog box.
3) Extract the install files
   a) Locate and double-click UCRFileUtility_Package.zip
   c) In the WINZIP dialog click "Extract" button.
   b) In the WINZIP dialog select an "Extract to:" directory (e.g. C:\Temp\Utility).
   d) In the WINZIP dialog click "Extract" button.
3) Locate setup.exe in the "Extract to:" directory and double-click it.
4) Follow installation instruction dialogs.

How to use UcrFileUtility:
1) Click Windows "Start" button.
2) Click "Programs" on the Start menu.
3) Click "UcrFileUtility" on the Programs menu.
4) Click "UcrFileUtility" on the UcrFileUtility menu.
5) Follow on-screen instructions.
